Keep your rental properties powered between tenants – without the hassle.
A Continuing Service Agreement (CSA) ensures that the electricity service at your rental units is not disconnected when a tenant moves out. Instead, the service seamlessly transfers back into your name, so your property remains safe, heated, and ready for the next tenant.
Why Sign Up?
- No Service Interruptions – Prevent damage from cold weather or loss of power between tenants.
- Effortless Management –Automatically transfers electricity services to you when a tenant closes their account. Perfect for managing any number of rentals.
- Cost Savings – Eliminate costly account set up fees and reconnection charges
How it Works
- Your tenant opens a hydro account in their name.
- When the tenant closes their account (moves out), we notify you that the service has been transferred into your name.
- When a new tenant moves in and opens a new account, responsibility is transferred to the tenant. The new tenant will be responsible for all costs, including the one-time set up fee.

Eligibility
- You must be the legal owner or authorized property manager of the rental unit
- The property must be in our service area

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I do not sign a Continuing Service Agreement (CSA)?
By not signing a Continuing Service Agreement, you have elected to not become the interim account holder, meaning you will not have continued electricity service to the rental unit when a tenant closes their electricity account. Renfrew Hydro will disconnect the electricity service to the rental unit on the date the tenant closes their account. This means that the electricity is not in service at the property for lights, heat, and appliances. Service reconnection and new account charges will apply to the new tenant when opening an account.
It is important to provide at least 10 business days’ notice for any request to open, close or update an account.
Please note: Disconnected services may require an Electrical Safety Authority inspection after being disconnected for more than 6 months, at the expense of the Landlord/Property Manager. A reconnection fee will apply once service is restored.
Renfrew Hydro Inc. and its affiliates assume no responsibility for any loss or damage to property resulting from the disconnection of electrical service.
