Completing a CSA ensures that the electricity service at your rental unit is not disconnected when a tenant moves out. Instead, the service seamlessly transfers back into your name, so your property remains safe, heated, and ready for the next tenant. After you have submitted your move-in request, you will be prompted to visit our Landlord Services page where you can complete a CSA. This means you can help manage your electricity costs by shifting your usage to lower price periods when possible. There are three TOU price periods: on-peak, mid-peak, and off-peak. Prices are highest during on-peak, lower during mid-peak, and lowest during off-peak. TOU price periods are different in the summer (May 1 to October 31) than they are in the winter (November 1 to April 30). The difference reflects seasonal variations and how customers typically use electricity throughout the year. Tiered Price Plan With Tiered, the price depends on how much you use overall in a month. You can use a certain amount of electricity each month at a lower price. Once that limit (called a threshold) is exceeded, a higher price applies. The threshold changes with the season to reflect changing usage patterns. In the winter period (November 1 – April 30), the Tier threshold for residential customers is 1,000 kWh, so that during the heating season households can use more power at the lower price. In the summer period (May 1 – October 31), the Tier threshold for residential customers is 600 kWh. Tiered prices give you the flexibility to use electricity at any time of day at the same price, although that price will change if you exceed the threshold during the month. Ultra-Low Overnight (ULO) Price Plan With ULO, the price depends on when you use electricity. This means you can help manage your electricity costs by shifting your usage to lower price periods when possible. There are four price periods: on-peak, mid-peak, weekend off-peak, and ultra-low-overnight. The ULO price plan sets a very low price for the overnight period; however, the on-peak price is significantly higher. This plan could be beneficial to those who consume a major portion of their electricity overnight, or to those who charge an electric vehicle overnight. The ULO price periods are the same in the summer as they are in the winter. For medium and large businesses with a monthly peak demand of 50 kilowatts or more, the wholesale price for electricity is known as the Ontario Electricity Market Price. This price appears along with the Global Adjustment as the commodity charge on your monthly bill. Please note, in Ontario, Regulated Price Plan (RPP) options are available to certain business customers. Renfrew Hydro automatically enrolls some accounts based on the consumer’s consumption and demand profiles; however, some customers must self-declare account eligibility. To see if your business is eligible, please review the: Regulated Price Plan Self-Declaration Form Some businesses may also be able to self-declare eligibility for the Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER). For more information, review the: Ontario Electricity Rebate Self-Declaration Form Previous Next Security Deposit Policy Renfrew Hydro’s security deposit policy applies to all non-residential customers. This policy helps us to keep rates as low as possible for all customers, by preventing rate increases that would result from unpaid bills. Security deposits are determined and managed in accordance with the provisions set out in the Ontario Energy Board’s Distribution System Code. Non-residential customers can have their security deposit waived if they: Have previously established a satisfactory payment history with Renfrew Hydro as an account holder in the same name, where some of that payment history has occurred within the previous 24 months; or Provide a letter from another electrical or gas distributor in Canada, confirming one year of good payment history in the same business name, within the last 24 months. This letter should be mailed to Renfrew Hydro Inc. at B-499 O’Brien Rd, Renfrew ON, K7V 3Z9 or emailed to [email protected]. This letter must be received by Renfrew Hydro a minimum of 10 business days before your account is active.
